Fox contributor Juan Williams recently praised former President Barack Obama for getting involved in the New York City mayoral race, where the self-described “democratic socialist” Zohran Mamdani won the Democratic primary. Williams wrote: “Yes, Obama has earned his retirement after eight years of honorable service as president. But America is not done with him yet. President Obama, your country needs you to mentor the next generation of leaders — starting with New York’s next mayor, Zohran Mamdani.”
President Donald Trump, when asked whether he knew ahead of time about the FBI raid on the home of former National Security Adviser John Bolton, said: “I don’t want to know about it. It’s not necessary. I could know about it. I could be the one starting it, and I’m actually the chief law enforcement officer. But I feel that it’s better this way.”
At this point in his second term, President Donald Trump has higher approval ratings than Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama in their second terms. According to the Real Clear Politics average of presidential approval polls, Trump, on Aug. 13, 2025, had a rating of 45.8%. G.W. Bush on Aug. 13, 2005, registered a 43.2% rating. Obama, on Aug. 13, 2013, stood at 43.8%.
Last week, I examined the reaction to and the consequences of a possible indictment of former President Barack Obama over “Obamagate,” the false claim that “the intelligence community” concluded a) Russians interfered in the 2016 election (which is not in dispute), b) they did so to help elect candidate Donald Trump, and c) Trump “colluded” with the Russians to get elected.
Former President Barack Obama will not face charges for treason, sedition or any other crime in the wake of newly disclosed intel. Whether Obama’s actions, if true, meet the elements of a crime is, of course, one thing. But this is not the primary reason Obama has little to worry about.
CBS canceled Stephen Colbert’s late-night show. Democrat Minnesota Gov. and failed vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz, who recently appeared on the show, said:
How can you tell if the newest Supreme Court Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is an “activist” judge? She admits it. Worse, she appears to think it is her job, if not her duty, to engage in (left-wing) judicial activism.
Remember former Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) who got censured for pulling the fire alarm in the Capitol Building as lawmakers prepared to vote to prevent a government shutdown? He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor, paid a $1,000 fine and lost the next Democrat primary.
President Donald Trump joined a long line of presidents who complained that the NATO countries fail to pay their fair share and therefore take advantage of the United States. In 2014, the European NATO countries agreed to a target of spending 2% of their GDP on defense by 2024. In 2014, only the United States, the U.K. and Greece were spending at least 2%. In a recent interview, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said just 23 of NATO’s 32 countries met the 2024 target of 2%.
