Mavs keep frontcourt depth by picking up Cauley-Stein option

DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas Mavericks have picked up the $4.1 million team option on center Willie Cauley-Stein’s contract. The move means Dallas is keeping a player who provides depth in a frontcourt headlined by Kristaps Porzingis. Cauley-Stein played 53 games in sporadic duty under former coach Rick Carlisle. Jason Kidd replaced Carlisle after he resigned following the firing of general manager Donnie Nelson. New GM Nico Harrison now has the task of building around star point guard Luka Doncic.
