MIAMI — A woman has coached a boy's high school soccer team to win Florida's state championship for the first time in state history. Pamela McDonald led the Doral Academy Firebirds to a 2-1 victory Saturady night over Niceville in the state's 6A final. It's a first in the 44-year history of the Florida High School Athletic Association. McDonald played on the Scottish national team and attended Miami's Barry University on scholarship before taking over the team at Doral 13 years ago. The 47-year-old coach says the most adversity she's faced has come from other coaches and referees.
