In this episode of The Antiques and Collectibles Show, host Jeffrey Burchard of Burchard Galleries in St. Petersburg, Florida, recaps the high-energy results from the September 19–20 auction that liquidated items from a massive 10,000-square-foot Winter Haven mansion. Highlights include a six-inch Newcomb College “moon and moss” vase by Jonathan Hunt that brought $1,300, a life-size bronze Cupid fountain at $2,100, a 93-piece blueberry silver flatware set that soared to $6,750, and a pair of ornate French Louis XV-style Bombay pedestals estimated at $1,000–$2,000 that exploded to $6,000 amid furious bidding. Jeffrey shares practical wisdom on whether to keep or sell inherited pieces (illustrated by a remarkable story of three paintings that sold for half a million dollars), why you should never dunk silver in Tarn-X, how a blacklight reveals hidden restorations on porcelain and paintings, and why “Made in” markings don’t automatically mean low value. He also previews the upcoming October 17–18 auction packed with rarities: Robert Duvall’s coat from the film Gods and Generals, a 2,000-year-old Peruvian pottery figure verified by thermoluminescence testing, a coveted Black Forest carved bear hall tree, a complete vintage soda fountain, Stickley and Roycroft Arts & Crafts furniture, towering Chinese palace vases, and more from multiple estates. Listeners are invited to call the toll-free show line, text photos of their treasures, or visit burchardgalleries.com to view results, unsold lots, and the next catalog.

Join Jeffrey Burchard live on the Burchard Galleries Antiques, Fine Art Call-In Radio Show, broadcasting from St. Petersburg, Florida, as he reviews the standout results from the gallery’s most recent auction and opens the phone lines for listener appraisals and questions. In this lively Sunday episode, Jeffrey begins by examining a Spanish cast-brass ten-light chandelier sent in by Joan, noting its scroll-and-vine motif, teardrop prisms (confirmed as faceted glass rather than crystal), and realistic market value in the $200–$300 range—charming but not rare enough for the gallery’s typical clientele seeking more spectacular pieces. He then dives into the weekend’s auction highlights, expressing genuine surprise at the strong performance of Zsolnay Hungarian porcelain with its distinctive Eosin iridescent glaze. A nine-inch glazed porcelain Pan vase with figural handles soared to $1,300, while a rare elephant-leg form vase brought $600 and several other Eosin pieces each sold for $450. Jeffrey explains the history of the famous multicolored metallic luster glaze developed by Vilmos Zsolnay in the 1890s and named after Eos, the Greek goddess of dawn.

Listeners also hear about a 19th-century marquetry-inlaid liquor case containing Vaseline glass decanters and glasses that realized $3,000, a reminder that true uranium-glass pieces glow under black light and remain highly collectible. A modestly sized Moser Czechoslovakian vase with applied gold branching leaves and flowers (only 4.3 inches high) fetched $700, while a large slab of petrified wood sold for $3,000 and a full-body taxidermy African roaring lion—previously sold by the gallery twelve years earlier—climbed to $5,250. Additional results include multiple lots of Herend fishnet porcelain animal figurines (one group of four bringing $850, another six-piece group $450, and a seven-piece group another $850), a unique Cricket Forge laser-cut steel butterfly garden bench at $1,200, and a Star Manufacturing Superstar Model 42P movie-theater popcorn machine that found a new home for $350.

Midway through the show, Jeffrey carefully evaluates photographs of a possible pre-Columbian black-on-red pottery vessel submitted by Nivia. He describes its globular body, tall constricted neck, flared collar rim, and pierced suspension lugs, noting stylistic similarities to Costa Rican or Nicaraguan (Nicoya) traditions while also considering Colombia-Ecuador parallels dating roughly 1500–1750 CE. He stresses the importance of examining the base, interior surfaces, and provenance, and reminds listeners of cultural-property restrictions that can affect the legal sale of such objects. Throughout the episode Jeffrey repeatedly invites callers at 877-969-8600, texted photos to 727-560-5333, and emails to [email protected], emphasizing that the gallery has operated from the same location at 2522 30th Avenue North for more than forty years.

He teases the upcoming two-day auction on September 19–20, which will feature material from a massive 10,000-square-foot Central Florida estate overflowing with Moser and other art glass, figurative Meissen porcelains, and dozens of bronzes. Discovery session begins Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with no reserves, followed by the main sale Sunday at noon. Jeffrey shares classic “sleepers-to-stars” stories—three Antonio Parreiras paintings that turned a sentimental $5,000 reserve into $180,000 each, a Rembrandt Bugatti bronze elephant once used as a doorstop that realized $170,000, and a Herter Brothers ebonized cabinet that sold for $5,250 after failing to move at a yard sale for $400—underscoring why professional auction marketing can dramatically change outcomes. Whether you have a single treasured object, an entire estate, or simply want to know what something might be worth, Burchard Galleries offers complimentary assessments and decades of experience liquidating fine art, silver, jewelry, bronzes, Oriental rugs, and quality furniture. Visit burchardgalleries.com to browse past results, view the growing September catalog, join the mailing list, or follow the gallery on Facebook and X (@BurchardAuction). Tune in to another high-energy hour of the Burchard Galleries Antiques & Fine Arts call-in radio show on WGUL 860 AM Tampa Bay, hosted by auctioneer Jeffrey Burchard. From the St. Petersburg gallery that’s been liquidating estates for over 40 years, Jeffrey invites listeners to call 877-969-8600, text photos to 727-560-5333, or email [email protected] to discover exactly what they have and what it could bring in the international auction market. This episode highlights the hottest lots already drawing bids for the August 15–16 auctions—Herend porcelain leading the pack, original-box Breyer porcelain horses climbing past $500, a rare Fenton cranberry daisy-and-fern banquet lamp, a massive taxidermied African lion standing nearly six feet tall, Limoges dinner services, art glass, and entire rooms of treasures pulled from a 6,800-square-foot waterfront estate. A caller named Larry brings a long-held mystery: a 15–18-inch bronze nude archer signed “P. Jensen.” Jeffrey digs deep on air, connecting the piece to Danish sculptor Petter Marius Jensen and the popular Art Deco Diana the Archer design after Pierre Le Faguays, ultimately delivering a realistic value range and inviting photos for final confirmation. Along the way Jeffrey shares tips on bidding strategy, the difference between original works and period replications, Florida Highwaymen and “Florida artist” buzzwords that ignite bidding wars, and why even humble toothpick holders can sell for thousands. Whether you’re sitting on an inherited estate, a single bronze, or just curious about the next no-reserve sale, this episode delivers the excitement of live auction action and free expert insight—all while reminding listeners that at Burchard Galleries, you name the price.

On this lively episode of the Burchard Galleries Antiques Fine Art Radio Show, host and auctioneer Jeffrey Burchard welcomes listeners from his St. Petersburg, Florida gallery (2522 30th Avenue North) for an hour packed with auction previews, valuation tips, and interactive call-ins. He highlights the upcoming two-day sale on August 15th and 16th, featuring a remarkable lifelong collector’s estate filled with folk art, advertising memorabilia, 19th-century furniture, and a rare elevated Belding’s (later Belding Hemingway) spool cabinet with spinning thread apparatus that came from a Plant City museum. Other standout lots include a full-sized taxidermied roaring lion in attacking pose and a broad array of Victorian art glass (Peachblow, Burmese, Fenton, Bohemian), porcelain, jewelry, and more from a 6,000-square-foot waterfront mansion whose attic and rooms are still yielding treasures. Jeffrey walks through real-time research on a caller’s large BHE collection hand-painted resin eagle sculpture (estimating $200–$300 based on size and market comps), fields a fun prank call about “left-handed widgets,” and evaluates a woman’s ornate vanity/perfume set with comb, mirror, and dabber (likely Art Deco or Florentine-style celluloid over silver, valued in the $30–$100 range depending on materials). Throughout the show he shares practical advice on identifying paintings (check the back for canvas age, staples vs. nails, Masonite, patches, and black-light signatures), the difference between asking and sold prices online, why dealers who collect specific niches can be the strongest buyers, and how Burchard Galleries handles everything from single high-value items to overwhelming multi-room estates with full cataloging, photography, international marketing (including Antique & Arts Weekly), and sales on LiveAuctioneers, Invaluable, and HiBid. Join celebrated auctioneer Jeffrey Burchard for a heartfelt and high-energy Father’s Day edition of the Burchard Galleries Antiques & Fine Art Call-In Radio Show, broadcast live from their historic location in St. Petersburg, Florida. In this fast-paced, information-packed hour — known as the fastest hour in radio — Jeffrey kicks things off by wishing a happy Father’s Day to all the proud dads listening, sharing his own experiences as a father while inviting callers, texters, and emailers to discover the hidden value in their family heirlooms and collectibles.

The show dives straight into expert evaluations of listener-submitted items. First up is Kirsten’s delightful collection of Steuben crystal figural hand warmers from the famous Corning, New York factory — charming little glass animals including elephants, rabbits, hippos, snails, owls, and more. Jeffrey explains their history as functional hand warmers, provides current market values based on recent auction records, and discusses how condition, rarity, and specific forms affect pricing, with sets bringing hundreds of dollars. He then moves on to her impressive assortment of Herend porcelain animals featuring the iconic and highly sought-after red and blue fishnet designs. These Austrian-Hungarian treasures include everything from rabbits and moose to leaping tigers and monumental roosters. Jeffrey highlights record-breaking sales, such as a large fishnet-decorated rooster for $1,000, a leaping tiger over 18 inches long for $800, and impressive group lots fetching thousands, emphasizing that larger, rarer pieces in perfect condition command serious money in the international auction arena.

The excitement escalates as Jeffrey explores the booming market for vintage and antique toys. Sparked by a small tin Minnie Mouse toy in their upcoming auction, he uncovers astonishing auction results: a massive 36-inch Marklin tin wind-up ocean liner selling for over $230,000, Tipco Mickey & Minnie Mouse motorcycles (complete with box) realizing $185,000 and $47,000 in separate sales, rare Felix the Cat platform toys (one of only four known) bringing $35,000, and other gems like cast iron Hubley Indian motorcycles, Japanese friction toys with robots, and George Barris custom hot rods. He passionately explains why these toys — especially those in original boxes, with crossover appeal, or extreme rarity — continue to smash records, urging listeners to check their attics, basements, and closets for overlooked treasures.

Throughout the show, Jeffrey shares fresh results from Burchard Galleries’ recent June auction, including strong prices for Versace furniture and Medusa-pattern china (a 59-piece set sold previously for over $5,000), Italian marble sculptures, a diamond and sapphire butterfly pin, unique silver-plate cocktail shakers (like a rare golf bag form), bronze candelabra, and much more. He stresses the advantages of selling through a trusted, internationally recognized auction house with 40+ years in the same location at 2522 30th Avenue North, where items reach a global audience of serious collectors and achieve true market value.

Whether you want a free verbal appraisal, are considering consigning for the next big two-day auction on July 18th and 19th, or simply want to learn “what it is” and “what it’s worth,” Jeffrey makes it easy.
